The handling of a 23-inch motorcycle wheel is better than any other Harley big wheel upgrades (26-34 inches). When the 23 x 3.75-inch wheel is paired with properly raked triple trees, it will run better than stock. In general, wide front tires, such as the 23 x 5.5 inch wheel, offer better stability on turns and in the rain.

Do I need to rake a 23 inch motorcycle wheel?
Some Harley riders say that you can upgrade to a 23” x 3.75” wheel without triple trees, but to have the bike ride safely and handle well, they are required. They give you the space between the wheel and frame needed and keep the proper geometry on the bike needed to perform at peak levels.
For the 23” x 5.5” fat front wheel, you will definitely need a weld-in or bolt-on rake kit.
I have had a 23″ wheel for almost 4 years now, and with the proper rake, I can easily do 100 mph with no wobble or shake, and it still rides like new!

Do I need a new front fender for my 23-inch motorcycle wheel?
Yes. Don’t try to run a stock fender. You will need a 23” wrap or classic fender for the 23x3.75” wheel or you will need a 23 Bulldog fender for the 23x5.5” wheel.

Do I need a caliper or bracket for oversized rotors?
Yes, when upgrading your Harley with oversized rotors, such as 13 or 18 inch, an SMT 13” front caliper or 18” front caliper kit is an essential piece of equipment.
Also, for Harley Touring models, you will need a 2000-2007 offset bracket or 2008-present offset bracket, depending obviously on the year your motorcycle was manufactured.
